Backpacks, Beats, and Community: MIB x Game Time Sports Bar

During the Black State Fair this year, the heart of the community came alive inside Midtown Global Market. Men In Black De-escalation teamed up with Game Time Sports Bar for something bigger than just a giveaway. It was a day of giving back, lifting up, and making sure our young people start the school year ready to win.

The event was packed with everything that makes our neighborhoods strong: food sizzling on plates, games that kept the kids laughing, and music that had the youth showing off their best dance moves in the middle of the floor. It wasn’t just about school supplies. It was about celebration, joy, and reminding our young ones that they are seen, supported, and loved.

Backpacks filled with supplies lined the tables, ready to be placed in the hands of students who need them most. Watching a kid’s face light up when they grab that bag, knowing it means walking into the first day of school confident and prepared. That’s what this work is all about.

And as always, MIB was there not just to give but to protect. We moved through the space with that same calm presence, making sure families felt cared for and safe while enjoying the event. Safety and joy can, and should, coexist. And that’s the standard we bring to every space we touch.

Partnerships like this show the power of community working together. Game Time Sports Bar opened their doors, local families showed up with love, and MIB stood shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone to make sure the energy stayed right.

Giving back isn’t new for us—it’s what we do, often and always. But every time, it feels like a reminder: When we pour into our people, we all grow.
